Inspired by COVID

When COVID 19 hit, my instinct was to buy books. My initial thought was to find comfort and entertainment. I picked up three books:  From the Ashes by Jesse Thistle, The Art of Happiness in a Troubled World, and The 5 Minute Journal

Jesse Thistle's book was amazing. It was the best book I've read in 2020. Entertaining, insightful, touching and it even showcased Ottawa. This book served its purpose - pure entertainment.

The Dali Lama's book was meant to help me understand how to deal with our difficult times. This one I still need to get through. I have found many other avenues for coping with the changes we've experienced this year.

The final book turned into a crutch and elixir for these times. The journal created a ritual that started the day and the focus on gratitude made me look at each day through a fresh and optimistic lens.

But as I used it, I realized I not only needed to be grateful and reflect but I had to still get shit done. I started to modify the journal and realized that I needed something different. So, I decided to create something that would be quick and effective to show gratitude, allow for focus in ones day and provided a guided reflection. The result is the Daily Poz Journal.

Note that From the Ashes is not in the photo because it's always loaned out.
